TREATMENT TECHNIQUES

  • Dry Needling

Dry needling is a skilled intervention that uses thin filiform needles to stimulate underlying myofascial “trigger points.” We will work with you to identify trigger points and any areas of tightness that may be contributing to your symptoms. Once inserted, the needles prompt a local twitch response, which immediately helps to release muscle tension, diminish pain, increase flexibility of the tissue, and quiet any recurring muscular spasms. Electrical stimulation may also be applied to facilitate further relief from symptoms.

  • Soft Tissue and Joint Mobilizations

Hands-on manual therapy techniques, including soft- and deep-pressure massage, trigger point release, and myofascial release, will relax muscle tension and improve mobility.

  • Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization is a manual intervention using stainless steel tools to detect and treat soft tissue restrictions. The technique increases blood flow to the restricted regions to improve pain, range of motion, and circulation.

  • Cupping

Cupping involves pumping suction into a cup or several cups applied on the body. The pressure in the cup helps lift and separate the layers of soft tissue beneath it, allowing for improved circulation and blood flow.

  • Dynamic Cupping

Dynamic cupping moves a suction cup on the body and/or moves the body with a static cup. The cup uses a light pressure of suction to create a pull to the soft tissue and then glides across the skin to create mobility in large surface areas.

  • Static Cupping

Static cupping uses a more significant amount of pressure to create greater suction in a specific area to target deeper muscles. This leaves the traditional red circle marks (petechiae).

  • Manual Stretching

Hands-on manual stetching of all muscles. Muscles have an inherent resting length and when over used or injured, muscle fibers can shorten causing decreased flecibility and overall mobility. It can be hard to personally stretch distal hard to reach muscle groups. Therefore, a personalized hands on approach can ease disomfort and tolerance for static stretching. Improved flexibility allows for proper circulation of blood flow to carry oxygen to tissues and metabolic waste out of muscles.

  • Passive Range of Motion

A relaxed joint is taken through available range of motion by expert hands. We can assess end range and joint throughout the range and manually manipulate the joint and tissue to move better and improve the range. Improved joint range of motion improves perceived stiffness, mobility, and neuromuscular control of the joint.

  • Therapeutic Exercise Prescription

Whether healthy or recovering from an injury, we will prescribe exercise interventions that target your needs over a designated number of weeks and set you up for continued success. This type of personalized program can build towards working with a personal trainer concurrently or after physical therapy treatments.
